NYC eyes ban on restaurant trans fats NEW YORK (AP) -- Three years after the city banned smoking in restaurants, health officials are talking about prohibiting something they say is almost as bad: artificial trans fatty acids. The city health department unveiled a proposal Tuesday that would bar cooks at any of the city's 24,600 food service establishments from using ingredients that contain the artery-clogging substance, commonly listed on food labels as partially hydrogenated oil. Art Teacher Loses Job After Kids See Nude SculptureFifth grade teacher took her students to the Dallas Museum of Art (students had signed permission slips), and now has lost her job due to the fact that one of the students saw a nude sculpture. The kids parents didn't happen to be some sort of Christian Fundamentalists perchance?.Kicked up a fuss with the school governers and suddenly the teacher gets the axe. Bummer.
Accidently had a run in with them and the whole nudity thing myself but thats another story.....

If some kid is bent outta shape over seeing a nude sculpture, forget firing the teacher, that kid should be put in foster care!!!
Get that child away from his or her whacky parents ASAP!!

School Gives Parents Detention For Late KidsOk, her's the scoop. If my kid goes to the Manhattan School for children in New York, I better get them to school by 8:25 am, or I am required to serve a 20 minute detention with my child in the auditorium. What?!? "Some tardy parents at the school, which has 660 pupils in kindergarten through eighth grade, complained the detention made them late for work. But others approved, saying they felt humiliated and won't show up late again." Who are these idiots that approve of such an assinine rule? They must have been hall monitors when they were younger. Unbelievable. I can just imagine if my childrens school told me that. All my irate nationalities would come to the surface. Italian, Filipino, and Irish. No doubt. Who would stand there and go , Ummm OK, Duhhh. I dont know if anyone has checked out the link, but there's a survey to take whether you would serve the detention or not. 32% have said that they would.
It is very important to get your kids to school on time, but cmon now.

Maybe if we had a few more police on the beat over here there might be no need for these kind of systems...
I live in a town in the south coast of the UK that has one of the highest counts of drink and drug realted crime for a town it's size...
These scanner things are not going to make one slight difference.. Do you know we have less than 50 police and more than 50 night clubs on our sea front.
So you can imagine what Saturday nights are like over here. People do what they want, they fight in the street, have sex where they please and smash windows to shops for the fun of it, and there are no police to stop them.
This country is going to the sh*tter fast!
