Use this thread to vent...
i have to vent majorily! recently at work the IT guy wants to justify his job by blocking us people who have to work on a computer all day long from listening to internet radio! it pisses me off! good thing i can still enjoy podcasts but who knows maybe they'll take that away from me. they say it takes up to much bandwidth but yet i see people on myspace all day long at work and you can stream music and video from their but yet they don't block that. they will block message boards i go to, but not block myspace? wtf... anyways i'm there to work i know. but i am more productive when i can listen to my tunes all day and i like internet radio because i can hear new stuff. anyone else have this problem at work?

BS! i need my podcasts and internet radio. especially since i sit in front of a computer all day.

Yeah the Mac runs on the same network, but only hits the web. It can't see anything shared. So in a way is on it's own... yet way to exposed.

Ok, so Im in a meeting today to discuss how we cannot download our own software, itunes, streaming radio, so on and so on....Blah, Blah, Blah..... Anyway, this chick is like, "Well, is this because we could down load a virus or something?" And the IST nerd goes "Oh Yes" (Just like your audioclips) Anyway, to make a long story short, when he said that, I choked and pop came out of my nose! Talk about hillarious. Hey, it got me out of the meeting! (I love having my own personal jokes that nobody else knows about.) Thanx for making something so mundane into a frickin riot! Work still SUX!

nice story. .. that sounds funny and our IT tells us the same thing. the whole "virus" deal.. thing is my dept. is on macs and we never get viruses and he tries to blame our macs for everything... 3 macs crashed last week in our dept. you turn them on and just an empty screen basically. well the IT guy says one of the macs has a virus and he knows nothing about macs either. so he runs his little norton programs and checks the network and says the network is fine. so finally i stepped in since i know a thing or two about macs... i turned the computer off, unplugged the network cable, rebooted the mac it worked just fine. plugged the network cable back in and connected to the network. so all along it wasn't the macs it was the d**n network screwing up, and that is also one of the reasons they said we couldn't stream internet radio... it was bogging down the network. when in fact the network sux in the first place. oh well...
so what is up with these companies blocking internet radio and stuff like that? i stare at a d**n computer all day, the least they can let me do is listen to music and they even wanted to not let us to listen to anything with our computers. at least that didn't happen though, i just can't stream anything. but give me a break. it just annoys me a lot you know.

Both Rod and I have had periods where it has been difficult finding work, and we both know from experience that this is a very dark and difficult place to be. After that time, finding employment can be a very uplifting experience, and for a while you will become a "company man". But soon you will discover, unless you are extremly fortunate, that you hate it and realize that its all BS...

yea i hear you man... i've been out of work a few times over the past couple years. i think the worst was when i was let go just right before xmas in 05.... lucky i was out of work for only a month but man i felt so low, and that month felt like a year. so i got a new design job right at the start of 06 and so far so good. of course you have to cope with the BS at work. other than that i'm happy to have a decent job at least.
